
MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - The bill to ratify the Extradition Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was passed at a sitting of the second session of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation on 20 May, BelTA learned.

The draft law is designed to develop the legal basis for bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It is aimed at ensuring effective cooperation between the two states in preventing and suppressing crime and developing relations in the field of extradition of persons who are wanted for prosecution or enforcement of a court sentence in the territory of the requesting party for an extraditable offense and who are in the territory of the requested party.

In accordance with article 7 of the agreement, the central authorities responsible for its implementation are the the Procurator-General’s Office in the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Interior of Pakistan.
