MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - Minsk is celebrating the 958th anniversary of its founding, Minsk City Hall told BelTA about the program of planned festivities.
City Day will begin with a flower laying ceremony at the Minsk Hero City Obelisk.
The Ancient Minsk festival will take place in the green zone along Pobeditelei Avenue From 11:00 to 22:00. The event will bring together over 500 reenactors from Belarus, Russia, and China. Visitors can look forward to exciting scenes, including knightly battles and demonstrations of ancient crafts.
Olympic Day, a large-scale sports festival, will kick off at 11:00 near the Palace of Sports. More than 30 interactive zones have been prepared for sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts. For children aged 3 to 14, an Olympic Quest will start at 13:00, with kids receiving various prizes once they complete it.
A new spectacular event of the sports festival will be dragon boat races among student teams from Minsk universities on the Svisloch River.
Hockey fans will be able to watch HC Dinamo Minsk’s match against HC Barys Astana on a large screen near the Palace of Sports. The match will kick off at 15:00.
The youth project “In the Rhythm of the City” will take place near the Palace of Sports from 17:00 until midnight. Cover bands and popular singers will perform on the stage. The headliner of the concert will be the well-known Russian musician MOT.
A trade show will be operating near the Palace of Sports.
At another venue - in front of the main entrance to Victory Park - the Strongest Firefighter-Rescuer 2025 international competition will be held from 8:00 to 18:00. The event will feature Belarusian rescuers and also rescue athletes from St. Petersburg and Vologda Oblast of the Russian Federation. Participants will tackle a complex of combined strength and speed challenges, which must be completed in the shortest possible time while wearing full firefighter-rescuer gear. Furthermore, on this day, 160 freshmen, including 10 girls who have chosen the profession of rescuer, will take their oath of allegiance to the Motherland.
From 11:00 to 19:00, the Festival of Professions will be held in Gorky Park. Themed zones with quests, playgrounds, and presentations from educational institutions will be organized for visitors of all ages.
Minsk Resident of the Year awards ceremony will begin on Svobody Square at 17:00.
Minsk will once again become the epicenter of a major event for motorcycle enthusiasts - the H.O.G. Rally Minsk. It will bring together thousands of motorcyclists coming to us from various countries: Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Russia. They will assemble at the Mound of Glory at 9:00-11:00, and the motorcycle parade will start at 12:00.
At 11:00-15:00 the Minsk Children and Youth Palace will host the city celebration “Discover a World of Bright Opportunities”, featuring presentations on the activities of groups from Minsk's institutions for supplementary education for children and youth.
On the grounds along Masherov Avenue, near the main entrance to Victory Park, a mass event dedicated to Tankman’s Day and City Day will be held from 10:00 to 17:00.
Celebrations are also traditionally organized in Minsk's districts. In Tsentralny District, festivities will run from 11:00 to 19:00 on the green area in Victory Park opposite the Victoria Hotel. The My Minsk-My Capital festival will take place there.
