Lithuanian border service drives 17 refugees to Belarusian border

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Lithuanian border service personnel have driven 17 refugees to the Belarusian border, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

According to the source, a service dog was used to scare the foreigners into crossing the border into Belarus. The incident happened in the area controlled by the Lida branch of the Belarusian border service. The foreigners told Belarusian border guard officers that they had requested refugee status from Lithuanian enforcers. However, instead of granting the refugee status and in violation of all the international norms the people were threatened with physical force and weapons and were delivered to the Belarusian border.
