MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – R&D efforts must translate into actual production and fuel economic growth, economic analyst, PhD in Economics Georgy Grits said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The economic analyst pointed out that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has placed great trust in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. However, Georgy Grits stressed that R&D products should not remain confined to laboratories but must be implemented into production and serve the economy.

“Knowledge needs to be transformed into innovations, and their quality must be enhanced. It is necessary to increase the functionality and competitiveness of Belarusian science. This is not only an investment in the country’s future but also a guarantee of its security,” Georgy Grits said. “It seems to me that science should focus on practical results. That is the key.”

However, he believes that academic science must remain the foundation for scientific developments. “Our academic science has a history and traditions. Among Nobel laureates, there are those originating from Belarus. It is a testament to the intellectual strength of the Belarusian nation,” Georgy Grits emphasized.

Thus, the analyst believes, the high demands placed by the head of state on the National Academy of Sciences are entirely logical. This is perfectly understandable given the role that science and innovations can play in enhancing the country’s economic potential.
