"On Point"
MINSK, 22 September (BelTA) – The West’s policy has led to the development of an alternative global center in the form of the SCO and BRICS, Head of the Russian Center for Military and Political Conflict Studies Andrei Klintsevich said in a recent episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Belarus and Russia have decisively pivoted eastward. We are developing an alternative center of global influence embodied by the SCO and BRICS,” Andrei Klintsevich.
To support his words, the expert gave the following example. In the past, Russian oil was traded in dollars, with the currency accounting for about half of all oil deals. “Now it is 5%, as increasingly more countries opt out of the U.S. dollar in trade. This also applies to the euro,” he added.
Andrei Klintsevich emphasized that the Union State of Belarus and Russia has managed to withstand the sanctions pressure. He also drew attention to other challenges, such as Poland’s border closure with Belarus. According to him, this will not significantly affect the economic situation in Belarus and Russia.
