MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Belarus is calmly and intelligently putting Lithuania in its place, Russian military observer of the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Colonel (retired) Viktor Baranets said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
Viktor Baranets noted that Belarus does not react to Lithuanian provocations on the border and does not leave such actions unanswered.
“I often envy you, Belarusians. Do you know why? Because you know how to respond with intelligence, a tooth for a tooth. That’s something we lack. We hear that the European Union restricts the movement of Russian diplomats, maybe in a month or two we’ll learn that we impose restrictions as well. When the 20th package of sanctions is adopted, people call me and ask: ‘Viktor Nikolayevich, where is our 150th package of sanctions against the Europeans?’ Belarus, on the other hand, responds calmly and intelligently, without any bloodshed. It’s bloodless, but very painful,” the military expert said.
He expressed confidence that Belarus will withstand all the hostile actions initiated by its Western neighbors, while they, in turn, will suffer repeatedly from their attempts to spoil relations with Minsk.
“Belarus is right to put them in their place. As Lukashenko shows, if trouble is caused for Belarus, there will be a response. This is the most effective way to counter anti‑Belarusian sentiment. It is right for Lukashenko to act in this way, and I fully support the approach,” Viktor Baranets stated. “Today we face fierce confrontation from the Baltic states. They are pursuing an anti‑Belarusian and anti‑Russian agenda, but that is their choice. The time will come when we and our descendants will remember those who wronged us, and we must keep track of everything to hold them accountable.”
