BREST, 11 February (BelTA) – Military personnel are ready to bear with fortitude various hardships for the sake of defending Belarus. Soldiers of the 38th Independent Guards Air Assault Brigade vividly demonstrate it as part of the ongoing snap inspection of the combat readiness of Belarus’ Armed Forces, BelTA has learned.
In line with the plan on inspecting the Armed Forces as authorized by the head of state the 38th brigade was brought to the highest state of readiness on 10 February. The units are busy carrying out missions in a complicated tactical environment. The paratroopers will have to demonstrate their shooting skills and physical fitness, show their endurance and strength.
The inspection signal caught the main units of the 38th brigade in a military training area outside Brest where the soldiers had been on field exercises for a week. “It is always unexpected for us. No one tells us about inspections,” said a machine gunner. ”We were in a firearms training class. We got the signal and rushed back to the camp to get ready and gear up. Then we moved to our destination. Of course, it’s not always easy but we are ready to endure hardships so that our families and loved ones can live in peace.”
Soldiers of the battalion, which is part of the immediate response forces, marched for 50km and arrived in the designated area. Once there, they set up a security system and engineering positions, established firing positions and communication systems, and camouflaged themselves. During the inspection the military personnel receive tasks for subsequent completion. No one knows about them in advance: everything is as real as it could be.
“Within 24 hours fortification installations were prepared in the areas where the first echelon was concentrated, emplacements for military equipment were set up, shelters for personnel were prepared, and rest areas were organized. The area is fitted with anti-drone nets. We are ready for battle here and we are ready to carry out missions away from the concentration area. We worked and prepared through the night. By morning we had everything ready to carry out further tasks,” said the commanding officer of the assault unit.
The Armed Forces inspection is taking place in complicated weather conditions. The weather was bitterly cold yesterday. It snowed in the evening and at night. Today was marked by thaw. “We are ready to endure all these difficulties. This is what we train and practice for. Belarusians have nothing to worry about,” assured the commander of the assault unit.
