MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – A unit of the 8th Radio-Technical Brigade, which is taking part in a Belarusian-Russian operational and tactical exercise, has been carrying out uninterrupted radar reconnaissance since the unit arrived in the military exercise area Ashuluk, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

The radar stations deployed on the plain can detect, identify, and track any target within seconds.

“Combat firing using air defense missile systems S-300 and Tor-M2 will be done in the military exercise area Ashuluk. Full combat capabilities of the air defense missile units can be utilized only in tight interaction with radio-technical units, which act as kind of eyes and ears for the air defense missile units,” stressed Aleksei Motol, commanding officer of the 8th Radio-Technical Brigade.

The officer noted that this operational and tactical exercise is a serious exam for the brigade. It will test the cohesion of units and combat teams as they detect, track, and feed radar data to the command post for the sake of allowing air defense missile units to conduct combat operations.
