MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Israel will expand cooperation in the area of science and technology. The relevant agreement was reached during negotiations of Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Alex Goldman Shayman, the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) told BelTA.
During the meeting it was noted that Belarus and Israel are at the forefront of science in a number of areas. Attention was drawn to the need to combine efforts of Belarusian and Israeli organizations for the sake of implementing joint projects relating to precision farming, production of unmanned vehicles, nanotechnologies and additive technologies, solar energy, electric vehicle production, water purification and water treatment. Participants of the meeting agreed to look into prospects of promoting joint initiatives in the area of healthcare and global climate change.
Vladimir Gusakov suggested considering a project for deeper research into historical and cultural ties of the Belarusian nation and the Israeli one soon and gave the relevant instructions to the Humanities and Arts Department of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Alex Goldman Shayman welcomed the proposals and informed Vladimir Gusakov about the intention to facilitate the establishment of contacts between organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and research institutions and manufacturers of science-intensive products of Israel. The ambassador is expected to visit some NASB organizations soon in order to discuss the joint implementation of promising projects in detail. Apart from that, Alex Goldman Shayman visited a NASB exhibition that showcases Belarusian R&D products that have been assimilated into production sector.
At present the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus cooperates with academies of sciences and research institutions of 90 countries.
