Around 1,600 trucks queuing at Belarusian border to enter Lithuania

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Around 1,600 trucks are waiting to enter Lithuania, BelTA learned from the State Border Committee of Belarus.

“For the fourth time, Lithuania has shut down traffic at Šalčininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side) and Medininkai (Kamenny Log on the Belarusian side) road border checkpoints at 23:15 on 26 October. The traffic has not been restored yet. A total of 1,590 trucks and 260 passenger cars are queuing to enter Lithuania,” the State Border Committee noted.

Since Friday, the number of passenger cars waiting to enter Poland near the border checkpoint Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side) has increased from 360 to 785. The Polish checkpoint handled 38% of the normal number of vehicles.

The busiest one is the Polish checkpoint Kukuryki (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side), with 3,060 trucks queuing. Over the weekend, the Polish checkpoint cleared 60% of the trucks.

Over 480 trucks are waiting to enter the EU at the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina on the Belarusian side), where 44% of vehicles was checked out to enter Latvia.
