Andreichenko: Belarus retains its development model despite sanctions

BESHENKOVICHI DISTRICT, 20 May (BelTA) – Improving living conditions in the regions is part of efforts to raise living standards in the country in general, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told reporters in the agro-town of Ostrovno, Beshenkovichi District, BelTA has learned.

“Such events are important not only for small settlements, but also for the country. The future of our rural communities and the whole of Belarus depends on our efforts to improve living conditions in the regions, in agro-towns. Gasification is very important. This is also a very costly undertaking, but nevertheless the government earmarks money for this. Although today the Belarusian economy is operating in a very challenging environment as Western countries are trying to destabilize the situation in the Republic of Belarus, our country is not going to back down and compromise on its social and economic development model. This is the principled position of the president of the Republic of Belarus, and this position is based on the will of the Belarusian people,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.

He noted that the gasification of Ostrovno is the result of the joint work of the central government, the regional and local authorities and a gas supply organization. “Together we have done a great job. This suggests that thanks to unity and teamwork we are able to fulfill any tasks. If everyone works hard and smart at their workplace, then we will not have to be afraid of any sanctions. This is a guarantee of the country's security,” the speaker of the House of Representatives said.
