MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – A tactical exercise with one of the air defense missile regiments is underway in Belarus, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
The exercise proceeds under the supervision of Chief of the Air Defense Missile Forces, Chief of the Air Defense Missile Forces Office of the Air Force and Air Defense Command, Colonel Andrei Severinchik. The guardsmen are practicing techniques and methods of using Tor-M2 air defense systems in various conditions. The military personnel are marching to new positioning areas and repelling strikes from a simulated air enemy. The exercise involves elements of joint operation of Tor systems with mobile fire groups.
“The main task of the air defense system and the air defense missile forces is combat duty. Today about 2,000 people perform combat duty tasks and provide cover for the state borders in airspace. These are combat crews of the radio technology troops, aviation, air defense missile forces, and battle area missile defense,” said Andrei Severinchik. “A tactical exercise is currently being conducted with one of the anti-aircraft missile regiments to cover the most important facilities and troops in any district in Belarus. This regiment is armed with Tor-M2 systems, which have demonstrated high performance in engaging any class of targets and maneuverability. Its mobility makes it possible to carry out tasks of covering not only stationary facilities but also troops moving across a battlefield.”
It was clarified that in the course of accomplishing missions, emphasis is placed on training military personnel capable of combating drones using small arms and electronic warfare assets. Emphasis is also placed on creating mobile fire groups and equipping them with modern solutions.
