Adequate measures in response to foreign combat drones flying into Belarus emphasized

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – While talking to reporters after delivering a report to the head of state, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich talked about incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles that fly into Belarus’ territory from time to time, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich said: “The military and political situation evolving around our country primarily due to the special military operation in Ukraine indicates that today’s instruments of war have changed somewhat and drones have come to the forefront. We observe that every day Russia and Ukraine use a large number of unmanned aerial vehicles in their territories.”

“The radioelectronic warfare assets created by Russia to counteract unmanned aerial vehicles affect the trajectory of the flight of these drones. This is why I’d say that due to objective reasons some of these drones fly to the eastern borders of our state. It doesn’t mean that we don’t see it. Our radioelectronic control systems, radioelectronic intelligence solutions register everything that flies into and stays in the air in the territory of our country. We register everything and we see everything,” the state secretary stressed.

He pointed out that a number of radioelectronic warfare solutions had been deployed in Belarus as well and prevent drones from flying across the country’s territory any way they want. “We see all of it. We implement adequate measures. We use radioelectronic jamming solutions to affect the flight of the drones. If we see that they threaten some critical installations, cities, the population, then we scramble combat aviation and combat weapons are used to destroy and suppress the drones,” Aleksandr Volfovich stated.
At the same time the official remarked that unmanned aviation is now competing with radioelectronic warfare solutions. Once the latter find a way to suppress, control drones, the former change frequencies and implement new technologies. This is what happens everywhere in the world. “The most important task today is to counteract and ensure the security of our citizens and of the territory. All the possible measures are implemented with this in mind. And the head of state keeps an eye on it as closely as possible,” the state secretary stressed.

BelTA reported earlier that on 8 October Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a number of reports, including one from State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich. The key topic was results of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2025. The state secretary presented a detailed report about results of the exercise and about the experience generated as a result of the exercise. He also mentioned the response of western neighbors taking into account their extreme concerns ahead of the exercise.

The report also mentioned incidents involving unmanned aerial vehicles that fly into Belarus’ territory from time to time. The state secretary explained that the situation is under control all the time.
