MOZYR, 6 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko urged citizens to work in their own country as he spoke at the opening of the renovated bridge over the Pripyat River in Mozyr on 6 November, BelTA has learned.
“Work on your own land. We have never been poor, and we will never be,” the Belarusian leader urged.
Regarding citizens working abroad, the president noted that this would not be banned, but free access to some social services would be revised.
“About 10,000-12,000 Belarusians have gone to Poland. Although some say a million have left. The exact number is not important. But when they need dental care, they come to Grodno. Why? Because it is free here. Nothing is free. These things are financed from the national budget. The state pays for you. Therefore, a decision will be made on this matter as well,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
Russia also has a need for workers now, and some may choose to seek employment there.
“If you leave to look for a good place to earn money, that’s understandable, we will not stand in the way. Especially if you are going to Russia. But after you earn good money, come back here and pay. We will provide any medical care you need. But only at your own expense,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
