Lukashenko meets with Libyan army deputy commander

Updated at 12:53

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar on 21 October, BelTA has learned.

A government delegation headed by Saddam Khalifa Haftar arrived in Minsk last night. The Libyan side is interested in establishing new contacts with Belarusian partners. Promising areas of cooperation include the manufacturing industry, agriculture, and healthcare.
As BelTA reported earlier, in February this year Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Belqasim Haftar visited Belarus. “We are well informed about the situation in Libya, we know Libya very well. I have a special attitude towards your people, I visited Libya back in the day. Of course, today Libya is different. But you should know that we are ready to help you in every way we can,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said during the meeting with Khalifa Belqasim Haftar.
