Lukashenko responds to EBU criticism of Belarus' Eurovision song

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – I believe that the criticism of the song of Galasy Zmesta, the Belarusian entry at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, by the European Broadcasting Union has only added to their popularity, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media after the Minsk Ski Track relay in Raubichi on 13 March, BelTA has learned.

“They are putting pressure on us across all fronts. I can see this happen even at Eurovision. What did these guys do wrong? Well, all this pressure just added to their popularity. This is publicity for them. Well, if need be, we will make another song. No problem,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

As BelTA previously reported, Belteleradiocompany has chosen Galasy Zmesta band with the song I'll Teach You as Belarus' entry for the Eurovision 2021 Song Contest. However, the European Broadcasting Union concluded that the song "puts the non-political nature" of Eurovision in question, and requests the broadcaster to submit a modified version or a new song.
