Lukashenko concerned about Polish troops firing shots towards Belarus

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – The fact that Polish law enforcement personnel discharge firearms in the direction of Belarus is a terrible violation. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement at a conference with top officials of the Council of Ministers on 11 November, BelTA has learned. Shots were previously fired over the heads of the migrants, who are stuck at the Belarusian-Polish border.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “In the last 24 hours Poles tried to push over 1,000 people into our territory. You see, they catch them over there, right up to the German border and maybe in Germany, too. They bring [the refugees] to the Belarusian border and start pushing them in various places. Truth be told, not a single person has reached our territory. They beat up refugees, break their ribs to make it not obvious. People are covered in bruises, beaten up and broken. And they simply dump them at the state border.”

“It is inadmissible that they fire weapons over heads [of refugees] in our direction. I don't know why mass media don't show it every day. As a border guard I can tell you that if a single shot was fired from the neighboring territory in the Soviet times, everything would have been destroyed over there. It is a terrible violation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president remarked that talking about some morale is out of the question in this context: “You see that this kid asks for water to drink. [Polish military personnel] stand like fascists, Gestapo, they turn on floodlights at night, loudspeakers, and start disturbing. Who? Kids. Kids in these miserable tents cannot sleep.”
