Lukashenko announces plans to build second NPP in Belarus

MOSCOW, 25 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko announced plans to reach an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Belarus. He made the statement during his address at the international forum World Atomic Week in Moscow on 25 September, BelTA has learned.

“Tomorrow Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] and I will discuss this matter and make a decision on building a second nuclear power plant in Belarus,” the head of state said.
“We have no doubts about who will build this plant. We will build it together with the Russians, because they taught us how to do it. We are already taking part in the construction of similar plants in certain other countries at Rosatom’s request,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
