Dmitry Reutsky appointed deputy chairman of Belarus' KGB

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Dmitry Reutsky Deputy Chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) on 20 July, BelTA has learned.

Up till now Dmitry Reutsky has been working as Chief of the KGB Branch for Minsk and Minsk Oblast. His position will be filled by Chief of the Operational Search Office of the KGB Vladimir Kozyr.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that these are serious appointments. He wondered whether the candidates for these positions had been thoroughly vetted. The head of state was assured that both men are decent officers, who had gone through various stages in their professional careers, had earned a good reputation, had been specifically trained, and had been on standby in anticipation for promotions.
