Ryzhenkov: Global Majority is forging new world order

MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – The West should lead the process of change rather than generate threats and losses, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said as he addressed the plenary meeting of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 27 September, BelTA has learned.

Assessing the global situation, the Belarusian foreign minister said Antonio Gramsci’s words written in a fascist jail are especially relevant today: “The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born.”
“Indeed, it is paradoxical that even today the new world is being born in agony because the old world does not want to exit peacefully. We are not the ones destroying the old world. The West is quite well at that. But it is we, the Global Majority, who is building the new one! I want to emphasize that we do this together, this is the key word in the title of our General Assembly [“Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”]. Together with our like-minded partners,” Maxim Ryzhenkov stressed.
