CSTO seen as integral element of Eurasian security


MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) - The CSTO is an integral element of Eurasian security, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta said at the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 29 October, BelTA has learned.

The deputy minister attended the CSTO Secretariat's thematic event “Prospects for Collective Security in Eurasia: The CSTO Area of Responsibility as a Space for Dialogue”. “The CSTO is an integral element of Eurasian security and an important factor in ensuring the security of the member states. Since the Collective Security Treaty was signed 32 years ago, we have  come a long way from creating a military-political union to its transformation into a modern, multifunctional organization," Igor Sekreta said.

The conference running in the Belarusian capital on 28-29 October has already become one of the prominent international forums for discussing current issues of regional and global stability. the event brought together delegations from more than 40 states and 7 international organizations. Participants include ministers of foreign affairs, heads of integration associations, and representatives of parliaments, research institutes, and analytical centers from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The main theme of the conference is The Global (Dis)Order and the Eurasian Security Puzzle. The discussions are focused on analyzing key trends in international relations and developing approaches to forming a new security architecture based on the principles of equality, indivisibility, and mutual respect. Particular attention is paid to the dialogue between East and West, strengthening confidence-building measures, and preventing confrontation.
