MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – Belarus has proposed to the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to share experience in the development of technologies for creative industries, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the press service, Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich took part in the 24th meeting of ministers of the SCO member states responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities, held in Vladivostok, Russia.

The meeting discussed support for the multilateral trading system, the introduction of technologies and innovations in trade, and the development of the creative economy as a driver of economic growth in SCO member states.

In his address, Sergei Lukashevich stressed the need to step up dialogue on simplifying trade procedures within the SCO and on creating an independent SCO financial mechanism. The Belarusian side also focused on promoting the initiatives voiced by the president of Belarus at the recent SCO summit in Tianjin, China.

Particular attention was given to the development of the creative economy across the SCO space, with emphasis on the growing role of SCO countries in the global creative industry. In this regard, the Belarusian side proposed holding expert‑level meetings to exchange experience in developing modern technological solutions for the creative industries and introducing artificial intelligence, in methodologies for assessing the creative industry’s contribution to SCO member states’ economies, and in creating effective mechanisms for cooperation between innovation clusters and technology parks of SCO countries.

The meeting participants adopted a statement on measures to ensure sustainable economic growth within the SCO and an action plan for implementing the framework of cooperation among SCO member states in the development of the creative economy. They also approved the SCO Secretariat’s report on the implementation of the action plan for the 2021-2025 program of multilateral trade and economic cooperation among SCO member states, as well as the annual report of the SCO Consortium of Economic Analytical Centers.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Sergei Lukashevich held talks with the heads of the Indian and Pakistani delegations, as well as with representatives from the leadership of the SCO Secretariat and Russia’s Primorsky Territory. The meetings addressed current issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and interaction within the SCO’s economic dimension.
