Belarus, India discuss bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to India Andrei Rzheussky has met with Deputy Minister of External Affairs of India Reenat Sandhu and her successor Sanjay Verma, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in India.

“The diplomats praised the friendly and constructive nature of Belarusian-Indian relations and drew attention to further steps to expand cooperation in the bilateral format and in the international arena,” the diplomatic mission said.

Special attention was paid to the issues of updating the legal framework of the two countries.

Belarus and India established diplomatic relations on 17 April 1992. The Indian embassy was opened in Minsk in May 1992. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus was opened in New Delhi in June 1998. Ambassador of Belarus to India Andrei Rzheussky presented his credentials to the Indian president in January 2019.

The two countries exchange regular visits at the supreme and high levels, as well as at the level of ministries and agencies.
