Number of EV charging stations in Belarus up to 1,200

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The number of electric vehicle charging stations in Belarus has risen to 1,200, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

According to Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich, in Q1 2024 the amount of electricity consumed by EV charging stations nearly doubled in comparison with Q1 2023 to reach 7.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh).

The minister remarked that the number of electric vehicles on Belarusian roads had increased considerably. The number of electrobuses used by the mass transit system is also on the rise. The cities of Zhodino and Shklov have already switched to modern electrobuses. The next project like that is supposed to be implemented in Novopolotsk.

“Electric transport not only offers comfortable travel experience but also reduces harmful emissions into the atmosphere,” the Energy Ministry stressed.
