Output of Belarusian Industry Ministry enterprises 4% up in Q1 2024

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Results of the Industry Ministry work in January-March 2024 were reviewed at a session of the ministry’s board. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik and Industry Minister Aleksandr Rogozhnik took part in the session, the Industry Ministry press service told BelTA.

First Deputy Industry Minister Aleksandr Ogorodnikov mentioned the areas where positive results had been achieved and drew attention to the matters that needed to be addressed. In January-March 2024 the output growth rate of the enterprises run by the Industry Ministry totaled 104% in comparable conditions as against January-March 2023.

The development of industrial enterprises in January-March was primarily fueled by the growth of export to faraway countries and by fixed-capital investments – 18.7% up and 79% up respectively from the same period of last year. Products made by Industry Ministry enterprises were shipped to 11 new markets (Israel, Nicaragua, Mali, Iraq, Syria, Cambodia, and other ones). No products were exported to these markets in January-March 2023.

Top executives of the enterprises were encouraged to step up efforts aimed at diversifying export, making import-substituting products, and improving the performance of commodity distribution chains, including multibrand dealerships.

The quality of products made by the enterprises run by the Industry Ministry was also reviewed. For the sake of an objective evaluation of the product quality the quality parameters of each and every enterprise were analyzed and the existing problems were discussed.
