MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with representatives of the Lithuanian civil society on 18 January, BelTA has learned.
“As soon as I learned about this idea, the idea of representatives of the Lithuanian civil society to visit Belarus in this difficult, turbulent time, I immediately supported it. The Belarusian head of state was informed about it and he, too, expressed complete support for it, saying that we should meet, talk, engage in dialogue,” Vladimir Makei said.
According to the minister, the Lithuanian mass media described the forthcoming meeting of the Belarusian authorities with representatives of the Lithuanian civil society as “a gesture of desperation” adding that their visit to Belarus would be used for propaganda. “These are absolutely false messages,” the minister said.
