Victory Day army parade at Minsk Hero City Obelisk

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – An army parade took place at the Minsk Hero City Obelisk on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet nation’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, BelTA has learned.
More than 4,000 people took part in the army parade. Units on foot included personnel from friendly countries. This year’s parade had an expanded historical part: guests had an opportunity to see cavalrymen, a machine-gun cart, parade units of officers with rifles and banners inherited from the military units that took part in the Great Patriotic War.

After that, more than 220 units of military hardware drove along Masherova Avenue. They were followed by combat and transport aircraft and helicopters as the flyby part.

The samples of hardware on display included T-72B3 main battle tanks, BMP-2 tracked infantry fighting vehicles, BTR-82A and BTR-70 armored personnel carriers, 122mm self-propelled artillery systems 2S1 Gvozdika, Polonez multiple-launch missile systems, Iskander tactical ballistic missile systems, S-400 Triumf long-range and medium range air defense missile systems, and other units.
