Rail operators of Belarus, Lithuania discuss cooperation

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) - Head of Belarusian Railways Vladimir Morozov held talks with Lithuanian Railways CEO Mantas Bartuska via videoconferencing, BelTA learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.

The parties took stock of the joint activities in 2020, discussed freight transportation issues, and technological and operational aspects of cooperation. The main focus was on improving the work on freight transit to Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia, facilitating freight rail traffic via the border crossing points. The parties also discussed the possibility of travel of Belarusian citizens on the Minsk - Kaliningrad rail route.

The parties signed a cooperation agreement previously which was updated to take into account structural changes, reorganization and redistribution of competences at Lithuanian Railways.
