MOGILEV, 29 July (BelTA) – The Mogilev-based company OAO Krasny Metallist will start batch production of loft-style furniture soon, BelTA learned from the company's Deputy Director for General Affairs Maksim Derzhurin.
The executive said: “Our company is the only manufacturer of tableware in Belarus. We have to expand production. We needed new ideas to get profits in addition to making quality products. The director of the company suggested making loft-style furniture based on only metal and wood. We've made the first few models and received feedback, which says there is a demand for such furniture. We will get all the necessary documents and certificates soon and will begin batch production.”
The company did not need expensive retooling in order to branch out its manufacturing: the existing facilities can be used to make not only tableware but stylish interior components.
The company's Director for Commerce Igor Zhigunov explained: “We've developed the furniture designs in-house. We also make metal framework and assemble the final products. We buy timber from woodworking companies in the region. All the furniture – wooden components and metal frameworks – are coated by modern paints and liquids that do not harm the environment. These products will offer not only competitive prices but environmental friendliness.”
The company has already come up with the basic model range. The first few samples have been made: shelve stands, chairs, suspended shelves, tables, and many other things. Once batch production is in full swing, Krasny Metallist's products will become available in retail across the country. The company intends to open a showroom of its own.
“Our key goal is to make quality products at affordable prices. Such furniture is at the peak of its popularity, however, not every Belarusian can afford it,” Igor Zhigunov noted. “We would like people to be able to buy stylish and modern furniture, which would perfectly fit the interior design of their apartments and countryside homes.”
According to Krasny Metallist Director Yuri Serbin, the further growth of the company requires the establishment of the furniture manufacturing division.
“Due to complicated conditions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic this year our revenues shrank a bit in H1 2020. The current product choice we make sells well, however, it is not enough,” the CEO said. “This is why we've come up with the idea to start selling furniture. The loft style is the most suitable one. Our enterprise constantly works with metal while loft furniture is based on metal structures. The company's team started working on it with interest.”
The public joint-stock company (OAO) Krasny Metallist has been working in Mogilev since 1933. The company makes cutlery, tableware, and kitchenware. It employs 165 people at present. The products are exported to Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and other countries. The company intends to penetrate the market of the European Union in the future.
