Minsk budget envisages additional funds to prepare for 2nd European Games

MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) - Additional resources are allocated from the Minsk budget to prepare the city for the European Games MINSK 2019. Amendments to this fiscal document for 2018 were approved at the second session of the Minsk Council of Deputies on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

The draft decision was presented to the deputies by head of the main financial department at the Minsk City Hall Aleksei Afanasyev. According to him, about Br15 million will be additionally allocated to carry out preparatory work for the European Games MINSK 2019. Funds will be used to repair roads, beautify buildings located news the sports venues, and develop new elements of street lighting.

The Minsk utilities companies will get additional Br4.5 million to clear up and arrange buildings and adjacent territories, repair small architecture, implement the energy saving project in the housing stock, purchase lawn-mowing equipment, beautify leisure areas. Br1.5 million will be allocated to complete repairs at Minsk school No.99.

Aleksei Afanasyev added that the residual budget in the total sum of Br168,000 formed as of 1 January 2018 will be injected in the reconstruction of Minsk clinic No.20, while the unspent funds of the Minsk City Hall innovative fund (Br20 million) will be used to purchase electric trains for the Minsk metro.

The total amount of finance for the Minsk investment program 2018 increases by Br40,000.

Thus, taking into account of the amendments, the Minsk budget revenue for 2018 is envisaged at Br4.286 billion, expenses – at Br4.482 billion. The budget deficit will make up Br196 million.

Aleksei Afanasyev added that the budget of the Belarusian capital received Br958 million in revenues at the start of the year, which is 22% of the projected revenue for 2018.
