Belarus' tractor-maker MTZ to establish long-term cooperation with Georgia

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – The Minsk-based tractor manufacturer MTZ intends to establish long-term cooperation with Georgia, MTZ Director General Vitaly Vovk said as he met with Georgian First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture George Khanishvili, BelTA learned from MTZ press service.

At present, around 17,000 MTZ tractors operate in Georgia, mostly vehicles that have survived since the Soviet times. “There are almost no new BELARUS vehicles as well as no maintenance centers and supplies of spare parts. We are currently looking for serious partners in Georgia that could offer the market the entire range of BELARUS machinery, provide high-quality maintenance services, and maintain a fleet of spare vehicles,” Vitaly Vovk noted.

Vitaly Vovk briefed George Khanishvili about efforts to upgrade its manufacturing facilities and expand the range of products. “We are ready to cooperate with Georgia and would be grateful if the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture gave us information about what machinery and technologies are needed in Georgia. We will consider all options of cooperation and will ensure that out machinery fully satisfies the demands of our clients in Georgia,” Vitaly Vovk pointed out.

For his part, George Khanishvili stressed that the agricultural sector of Georgia experiences a shortage of machinery and the government will allocate sufficient funds to improve the situation.

MTZ also signed a supplement to the contract with the ООО MAR-MOT company worth around Br75 million. In line with it, MTZ will deliver to Georgia another 48 tractors, bringing the total number of supplied vehicles to 81.
