MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) - In 2024, trade between Belarus and Pakistan grew by 4.6%, Belarusian Energy Minister Aleksei Kushnarenko told journalists before the eighth session of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA learned.
Aleksei Kushnarenko pointed out that trade between Belarus and Pakistan is gaining momentum. “Thus, it increased by 4.6% last year, amounting to $50.3 million. Industrial products accounted for 70% of the total volume. We plan to hold a number of bilateral meetings with our Pakistani counterparts during their visit to Belarus. They are also set to tour some mechanical engineering enterprises, including MAZ and MTZ. We see great potential for cooperation in this area. We also plan to discuss the supplies of electric vehicles, transformers and special-purpose machinery to Pakistan,” he said.
Aleksei Kushnarenko emphasized that Belarus-Pakistan meetings are held at a rather high level, and the two countries are cooperating quite actively. "In the last six months alone, this is the third time we met with Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan Jam Kamal Khan, who co-chairs our intergovernmental commission. We successfully held a business forum in Islamabad in November last year. We plan to hold a similar event in Belarus as part of the upcoming visit of the Pakistani prime minister. We have also agreed to showcase each other's opportunities within the framework of exhibition events held in our countries,” the minister said.
The working groups are also actively cooperating in various areas. “All this is the key and basis of our successful cooperation with Pakistan. We have the most important thing: the desire to develop our bilateral cooperation,” he noted.

A delegation headed by Pakistan's Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has arrived in Belarus to participate in this event. The prospects for bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan across a wide range of areas will be discussed. The Pakistani delegation is scheduled to visit a number of industrial enterprises, and attend a number of bilateral meetings.
