Belarus’ Gomel Oblast discusses ways to expand partnership with Uzbekistan

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Cooperation between Gomel Oblast and Uzbekistan in the industrial sector was discussed during a meeting between Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko and Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, in Tashkent on 24 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

The discussion focused on strengthening interregional ties, which are becoming increasingly significant each year. “We are ready to discuss any proposals aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation and to provide maximum support for all constructive ideas and projects,” Ivan Krupko emphasized.

Laziz Kudratov suggested several options for attracting business partners from Uzbekistan for cooperation and the creation of joint production facilities on the premises of enterprises in both countries. An agreement was reached on further collaboration in this area.

The governor also visited Texnopark in Tashkent, which brings together around 20 projects focused on creating high-tech, competitive, export-oriented products. The delegation from the southeastern region of Belarus was informed about the production of electronic gas metering devices, household refrigerators, industrial air conditioners and cooling systems, elevators and escalators, and construction materials.

Ivan Krupko and the company’s management discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation and the exchange of specialists.

Business communities from Gomel Oblast are studying the potential of industrial enterprises in Tashkent and identifying areas of mutual interest. For instance, one of Uzbekistan’s confectionery factories expressed interest in receiving large volumes of dry milk from Gomel Oblast. To expand production, they need to purchase high-quality raw materials, which the southeastern region of Belarus can supply. Negotiations were held on site, and agreements were reached on trial shipments of Belarusian products.

As BelTA previously reported, a delegation from Gomel Oblast, led by the governor, is currently on an official visit to Uzbekistan. Representatives of major industrial enterprises are meeting with partners and discussing prospects for bilateral relations.
