Belarus' ambassador authorized to hold gas talks with Russia

MINSK, 17 March (BelTA) – The government has authorized Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko to negotiate a draft protocol on amending the agreement on gas supplies between the governments of Belarus and Russia. The decision was formalized by Council of Ministers' Resolution No. 147 as of 15 March 2021 that was published on the National Legal Internet Portal on 17 March, BelTA informs.

“The Council of Ministers authorizes Vladimir Semashko to negotiate a draft protocol on amending the agreement as of 25 November 2011 between the governments of Belarus and Russia on the procedure for setting prices (tariffs) for the supply of gas to Belarus and its transportation through gas pipelines located in Belarus. Vladimir Semashko shall be able, if necessary, to introduce non-essential changes and to sign this protocol upon reaching an agreement within the approved draft protocol,” the document reads.

The resolution comes into force on the day of its adoption.
