Belarusian army officers to check French army unit

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – Representatives of the Belarusian army are busy examining a French army unit, which is subject to control in line with the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE Treaty), on 26-30 March, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Apart from that, the Belarusian military inspectors will visit the 1st Airborne Regiment within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures. The inspection is supposed to verify the number of military hardware on site corresponds to the numbers revealed as part of the CFE Treaty. The information France submits to the OSCE member states within the framework of the 2011 Vienna Document on Confidence- and Security-Building Measures with regard to personnel numbers, main weapon systems, and military hardware in this specific army unit will be evaluated, too.

Apart from seven Belarusian military inspectors military inspectors from Kazakhstan and Ukraine are also taking part in the inspection events.
