Ukraine working groups reconvene for talks in Minsk

MINSK, 10 February (BelTA) - Working groups on security, political and economic affairs of the contact group on Ukraine have gathered in Minsk for another round of talks, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik told reporters that the contact group may convene in Minsk on 10 February. "The next meeting of the contact group is planned for 10 February but the Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Format may gather for a meeting at this time too. Therefore, I cannot say exactly," the OSCE representative said.

Earlier Darka Olifer, the spokesperson for Ukraine's former president Leonid Kuchma, said in her Facebook account that Leonid Kuchma turned to Martin Sajdiku with the following proposal: “In view of the continuing non-compliance with the regime of silence by representatives of certain districts of Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts, the lack of progress on the release of prisoners and implementation of other items of the Minsk accords, I believe it reasonable to hold a regular meeting of the tripartite contact group in Minsk only after the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Four.”
