Belarus' security chief to attend CSTO events in Yerevan

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – A delegation of the State Secretariat of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus headed by its head Aleksandr Volfovich is on a visit to Yerevan, BelTA learned from the State Secretariat of the Security Council.

The Belarusian delegation will take part in a joint meeting of the CSTO Ministerial Council, Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of Secretaries of the Security Councils due in Yerevan on 23 November.

The parties will consider the documents to be submitted to the heads of state during the regular session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, and also discuss multilateral cooperation in the political and military areas, combating terrorism, and setting up a coordinating council on biological security.

The meeting participants will adopt a number of statements aimed at countering the financing of terrorism, glorification of Nazism and manifestations of extremism.

At the initiative of the Belarusian side, a statement on strengthening the architecture of international and regional security and arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation will be signed at the joint meeting of the CSTO statutory bodies.

This document reaffirms the openness of the CSTO member states for dialogue and interaction with all interested countries and international organizations on the basis of the CSTO mechanisms, the universally recognized norms and principles of international law.
