MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – A digital economy ministry can be set up in Belarus in 2018, Chairman of the Business Promotion Council, head of the Council of Ministers Office Alexander Turchin told the media on 27 March, BelTA has learned.

“The head of state did not set any deadlines, but the government is not going to drag on the issue. We have already accumulated certain experience. We have a digital economy council led by the prime minister. We have already discussed the matter at the meeting of the council. In two weeks we will hold another meeting of the council to discuss the digital economy ministry,” Alexander Turchin said.

Speaking about the time for the new agency to go online, he noted: “The goal is to do it this year.”

Alexander Turchin added that the Belarusian president supported the idea of a new ministry and instructed the government to submit the corresponding proposal, including the basis and functions of the new agency.
