President's hockey team off to good start in new RHL season 

MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) - The hockey team of the President of Belarus was off to a triumphant start in the new, 18th season of the Republican Hockey League (RHL), BelTA has learned.

Today, on the ice of the capital's Olympic Arena, the president’s squad beat the Grodno Oblast team 10-3 (4-1, 3-0, 3-2).

The first period kicked off with a number of counterattacks and Andrei Kostitsyn opened the scoring five minutes into the game. Very soon Sergei Yanchenko scored back. The hosts added pressure and Andrei Kostitsyn, Denis Kurdeko and Nikolai Lukashenko made it 4-1 before the first hooter. In the middle stanza Nikolai Lukashenko scored his second of the night. Maksim Parfeyevets added one more, and Yaroslav Chupris, assisted by Aleksandr Lukashenko and Andrei Bashko, made the scoring 7-1 just before the second break.  In the final period Nikolai Lukashenko scored two more while Maksim Parfeyevets lit the lamp for the second time. The visitors narrowed the gap through the efforts of Sergei Oliyev and Oleg Filippov.
Today's MVPs are Nikolai Lukashenko and Sergei Oliyev. The prizes to them were presented by Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Antonina Koshel.

Several matches of the new RHL season have already taken place. The hockey players of Mogilev Oblast drew with the Grodno Oblast team (5-5), and then defeated Vitebsk Oblast team (2-1). The hockey players of Brest Oblast lost to the squad of Minsk Oblast (0-7), and then prevailed over the team of Gomel Oblast (4-3).
In the final of last year’s amateur tournament, the president's ice squad beat Minsk Oblast twice: 5-2 and 10-8 and became the winner of the tournament for the 15th time. The teams of Gomel Oblast and Minsk Oblast have one title each. 
The organizers of the amateur hockey tournament are the Presidential Sports Club, the Sport and Tourism Ministry and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
