MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Weightlifter Darya Naumava will carry the flag for Team Belarus at the opening ceremony of the BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan, Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.
Darya Naumava is a silver medalist of the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2018 World Weightlifting Championships and a champion of the 2019 European Weightlifting Championships. The BRICS Games opening ceremony will take place in Kazan Expo. The start is at 19.00 on 12 June. Many Belarusian athletes have already arrived in the capital of Tatarstan. These are teams in synchronized swimming, weightlifting, sambo and wushu. Competitions in these sports will kick off on 13 June.
More than 5,000 athletes from 93 countries will compete in 392 medal events at the BRICS Games in Kazan. The Belarusian delegation comprises over 600 people. These are about 400 athletes and also coaches, judges, heads and representatives of the federations. The games will be over on 23 June.
