HC Dinamo Minsk to face HC SKA Saint Petersburg

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk will have their third game of the away series in the regular season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) on 19 January, BelTA has learned.

Dmitri Kvartalnov’s team will be hosted by HC SKA Saint Petersburg. The away tour for the Minsk side kicked off on 15 January with a 4-6 defeat to HC Severstal Cherepovets, but they bounced back on 17 January by beating HC Dynamo Moscow 3-2. HC SKA Saint Petersburg suffered a setback in their home series opener on 16 January, falling unexpectedly to the Western Conference underdog HC Sochi, 1-2. The Saint Petersburg squad currently sits in seventh place in the conference with 53 points, whereas HC Dinamo Minsk holds third place with an eight-point advantage.

The previous encounter between the opponents took place on 26 December at the Minsk-Arena, where the visitors proved stronger with a score of 4-1. The first game of the clubs this season on 19 September also ended in favor of HC SKA Saint Petersburg (3-2). The third meeting between the Minsk and Saint Petersburg teams in the current regular season will start at 7.30 p.m. Forward of the Minsk Bisons Sam Anas has been scoring points for ten consecutive matches and today has a chance to break his own club record for the longest scoring streak.
