MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes continue competing at the Russian Biathlon Championships held at the Pearl of Siberia Winter Sports Center in Tyumen, BelTA has learned.

The mixed relay on 28 March featured 15 teams. The Belarusian team of Hanna Sola, Dzinara Smolskaya, Dzmitry Lazouski and Anton Smolski grabbed the leading position from the very start.

Hanna Sola used one spare to tag Dzinara Smolskaya with a five-second advantage. Dzinara, with six shots, was second at the next exchange, giving way to Kristina Reztsova from Khanty-Mansiysk. Dzmitry Lazouski shot clean to restore Belarus’ lead. The competitors were not so accurate in shooting and ran much slower. Dzmitry Lazouski reached the first standing with a half-minute advantage, closed it with seven shots and increased the advantage to 50 seconds on the final lap. Anton Smolski anchored a victory despite five spares.

The mixed relay win became the second one for Team Belarus at the 2024 Russian Biathlon Championships in Tyumen. On Tuesday Hanna Sola won the women's pursuit.

The team of Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast finished second in the mixed relay, with the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra team coming in third.
