MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian national handball team has made a successful start at the international Handball Friendship Cup 2026 tournament in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
In their opening match at the Dynamo Sports Palace on 5 January, Yuri Shevtsov’s squad secured a 34-22 confident victory over the team of China, finishing 12 goals ahead. On 6 January, the Belarusian handball players will face the second national team of Russia, and on the final day of the competition, 7 January, they will compete against the main Russian national team.
At the end of 2025, the Belarusian handball players successfully played two away friendlies against the team of Qatar. The Belarusians claimed a 26-21 victory in the first match in Doha, followed by a hard-fought 18-17 win over the home team.
