MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - The traditional international ice hockey tournament 2025 Channel One Cup is set to begin at the Sibir Arena in Russia’s Novosibirsk, BelTA has learned.
Participating in the event are the national teams of Belarus and Kazakhstan, along with the Russia 25 team. The tournament will kick off with a 3x3 hockey match, featuring Belarus against Kazakhstan at 4:30 pm, followed by the Belarus-Russia match an hour later.
The first game of the main draw for Dmitry Kvartalnov’s team will take place on Friday against Kazakhstan, starting at 12:00 pm Minsk time. On 13 December, Belarus will face the Russia 25 team at 2:00 pm. The tournament hosts will play against the Asian champions on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
“We have taken a couple of days to relax before the training camp. We arrived in great spirits and are happy to see everyone. It’s nice to have this international break to step away from the regular championship and recharge our energy and emotions. We’re here solely for the top spot; that’s our only goal,” said forward Roman Gorbunov.
This marks the fourth consecutive time the Belarusian national hockey team is taking part in the Channel One Cup. Belarus claimed the trophy in 2022, and finished in second place in the two previous seasons.
