MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) - As part of the Our Children charity campaign, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich visited the Volkovysk District Center for Special Education and Rehabilitation on 23 December, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich, together with staff from the State Secretariat of the Security Council, congratulated the children on the upcoming New Year and presented them with equipment for learning and rehabilitation, household appliances, and sweet treats.

“The New Year is perhaps the most anticipated holiday for children,” Aleksandr Volfovich told the media. “Remember how in childhood we would dance in circles around the Christmas tree and eagerly wait for Father Frost and the Snow Maiden to bring us gifts. Even as adults, on the eve of the New Year, many continue to believe in a miracle that is sure to happen. One only needs to believe in it very strongly.”

The state secretary of the Security Council pointed out that by participating annually in the Our Children campaign, he becomes increasingly convinced of how important it is not just for the children. “This noble cause is also necessary for you and me. After all, taking part in the campaign helps us become kinder, reminding us that somewhere there are people who need our support. If we can help them in any way, we certainly should,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.

Through their efforts, the State Secretariat staff transformed the day into a true festival for the center’s young residents. The smiles on the children’s faces and their laughter spoke more eloquently than any words.

Aleksandr Volfovich took part in a ceremony to hand over keys to apartments, including rental units, to staff of the Volkovysk District Department of Internal Affairs, the Education Department, the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Forensic Examination Committee, the Volkovysk Central District Hospital, the Zonal Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, the Public Security Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, and to military personnel of military unit 7404.

“As a military man myself, I know what moving around is like, what it means to receive housing and move into a new apartment, and what feelings overwhelm you at that moment. Especially on the eve of the New Year. Opening this building brings to life the development program we outlined at the Belarusian People’s Congress. The priorities we set for the new five-year term are already being implemented. We are building housing, improving citizens’ wellbeing, and doing everything possible so that our people feel more comfortable and live better with each year,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.
