PINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The draft medium-term strategy for the youth policy in the Union State was discussed in Pinsk at the meeting of the Commission on Youth Policy, Sport, and Tourism of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

“Our youth policy strategy is supported by a detailed roadmap, which includes several dozen events at regional, national, and international levels,” emphasized Sergei Klishevich, Deputy Chairman of the Commission on Youth Policy, Sport, and Tourism of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State and member of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture, and Science of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. The primary goal in developing the youth policy strategy is to strengthen spiritual and moral foundations, preserve historical memory, and create opportunities for the professional and personal growth of young people across the Union State.

During their meeting, the parliamentarians reviewed the outcomes of the 18th edition of the Youth for the Union State Festival and the Union State Youth Forum titled “The Role of Youth in Preserving and Protecting Historical Memory,” both held in 2025. “We are now discussing plans and ideas for the next festival, which will be hosted by the Russian Federation,” stated Sergei Klishevich. “This year also saw the inaugural, large-scale Union State Forum of Young Historians. We will, of course, continue this work and oversee the matter through the relevant commission of our Parliamentary Assembly.”

The next edition of the Youth for the Union State Festival is planned to be held in a Russian region close to Belarus. This choice is partly due to closer interregional contacts. “We will consider one of these regions. This event is important for us. It has evolved from a creative competition into an event with a full-fledged business program, a forum celebrating our historical legacy,” noted Artem Turov, Chairman of the Commission on Youth Policy, Sport, and Tourism of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots.

A further priority is patriotic education, for which the National Center for Patriotic Education of Youth at the Brest Fortress will be a key joint venue. “Arrangements are already being made for the first group of young men and women from the Russian Federation to join the patriotic center this summer, while Belarusian youth will attend the Avangard camp in Volgograd Oblast,” stated Artem Turov. “We expect that this pilot project, which we will launch in 2026, will become a permanent fixture among Union State youth events.”

At the meeting the parliamentarians also discussed cooperation in tourism.
