Plans to hold first Belarus-Russia youth economic forum in 2022

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The maiden Belarusian-Russian youth economic forum might be held during the 9th Forum of Region of Belarus and Russia that will take place in Belarus in 2022, Chairman of the Youth Parliament at Belarus' National Assembly Yegor Makarevich told sb.by, BelTA has learned.

The youth parliaments of the two countries have reached an agreement on cooperation and interaction, Yegor Makarevich said as he took stock of a joint web-based meeting between the governing bodies of the Chamber of Young Legislators at the Federation Council of Russia and the Youth Council (Parliament) at the National Assembly of Belarus that took place on the sidelines of the forum on 29 June.

“This is a framework agreement that leaves room for development. There are plans for cooperation in information and creating a common information space. Today we have also discussed ways to boost tourist potential and youth tourism. There was a sound proposal about work in the sphere of blogs – with influencers. It is important to organize this work in Belarus and Russia in the most effective way. Plans are in place to set up an expertise center,” Yegor Makarevich noted. “At today's meeting, our colleagues from Russia backed our proposals to hold the Belarusian-Russian youth economic forum within the framework of the next Forum of Regions. There are many young entrepreneurs and young leaders in government agencies and private organizations in Belarus and Russia among us. It is important to establish economic ties at the level of the youth as well. I think it would be great to invite, for example, young leaders from the IT sector to discuss existing issues and youth entrepreneurship. It is a very interesting initiative and I believe that we will make the Belarusian-Russian youth economic forum happen. We are ready to organize it and will try to make it in time for the 9th Forum of Regions,” he said.

According to Yegor Makarevich, all other proposals put forward at today's meeting will also be carefully considered and analyzed. “We will devise an appropriate roadmap that will help us finalize all the proposed projects and start implementing them. Russia is our strategic partner and it is important for us to put our joint initiatives into practice,” he added.
