Over 140 flights a week link Russian regions to Belarus

GOMEL, 31 October (BelTA) – Currently, 15 regions of Russia have direct flights with cities of Belarus, totaling over 140 flights per week, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov said at a joint meeting of the boards of the Belarusian Economy Ministry and the Russian Economic Development Ministry in Gomel, BelTA has learned.

Maxim Reshetnikov supported the words of Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar regarding the need to develop the services industry. “And here, one of the most powerful [resources] is the tourism potential. We need to work more on promoting [creating] these products,” the minister emphasized.
He recalled the establishment of the first tourist information center of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Smolensk.

“The geography of flights between our cities is expanding. Last year, new regular flights were launched: Moscow-Brest and Minsk-Makhachkala. This year, routes St. Petersburg-Brest and Moscow-Mogilev were opened. And now 15 Russian regions have direct flights with Belarus. This amounts to over 140 flights per week,” the Russian economic development minister stated.
“Of course, new routes are also being developed. And we are keen to do this together. This applies, for instance, to digital platforms as well. The potential is very significant,” Maxim Reshetnikov is convinced.
