Opinion: Western politicians interfere with Belarus' affairs but can't see their own problems

MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Western politicians believe it is okay to brazenly and arrogantly interfere in Belarus' domestic affairs but they absolutely fail to see problems in their own countries, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Tatiana Runets.

Tatiana Runets noted: “Our country has recently encountered unprecedented political and economic pressure on the part of a number of European countries. For some reason individual political figures in these countries believe it is okay to brazenly and arrogantly interfere in domestic affairs of our country but absolutely fail to see the problems that exist near them.”

In her opinion, the West uses slogans of democracy and freedom in a bid to split the Belarusian society, impose its own values and behavior rules. “Is the policy of economic sanctions a manifestation of care for our people? The situation with the Belarusian air carrier Belavia demonstrates that none of the Western politicians even thought about two thousand Belavia workers and their families. I am convinced that the future and economic development of our country depend on the unity of all the Belarusians. Only together can we effectively counteract various external and internal challenges. We have to remember that we are Belarusians and we have one and the same Motherland,” Tatiana Runets concluded.
