"On Point"
MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – Historian Yevgeny Spitsyn shared his thoughts on who might have planned the operation to attack the Novgorod region residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
The expert emphasized that against the backdrop of other major global news, the fact of the drone attack on Putin's residence in Novgorod Oblast has faded from attention. “The pre-New Year and New Year escalation of the global situation is linked to the Ukrainian conflict, among other things. It [the conflict] has somewhat receded to a secondary, or perhaps even tertiary, role, but it hasn't disappeared. The topic of the drone attack on Putin's Novgorod residence has also faded from the front pages. Yet, right before the New Year, the U.S. military attaché was summoned to the Ministry of Defense. He arrived looking rather sour. He was met not by just anyone, but by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff. This is, in fact, a significant event that we somehow underestimated,” the historian explained. “So, everyone saw who actually programmed these drones. It wasn't the Ukrainians. It wasn't even the British. It was the Americans themselves. And not just any Americans but CIA operatives. That's the 'deep state' at work, which, by the way, is also acting against Trump and against any agreement on Ukraine he might have with Russia.”
